Hurricane Ian the road to Recovery

Day one we didn’t know where to really start, I knew I had to get out there and start helping right away. We had to monitor our gas usage, many places had no power, and the gas stations that had power the line was around the block not to mention I didn’t feel right that gas was for the people that lived there and really needed it. I started just outside Punta Gorda and it was a mess.

I saw a few people on the street gave them our supply bags and some clothes and blankets, and I had a few welfare checks to do so the plan was to do as many welfare checks as I could and help the people that we saw that needed help.

At the end of the day, I ended up at Dunbar High School in Ft Meyers and gave them the rest of our food, clothes, Hygiene packs, and called it a day.

Day 2…

I started in Naples this time went to a few firehouses and they told me of some places to go. One of the places we went to was Meals of Hope 2221 Corporation Blvd, Naples, FL 34109 and they are working overtime getting out meals to those in need and there are a lot of people in need as you can imagine so I gave them half my load of food and water they DO NOT accept clothes only food.

We gave them half our load and moved out back on the road back to Dunbar High School in Ft Meyers, when I got there they had explained to me that they outgrew that location and moved everyone to The Hertz Arena 11000 Everblades Parkway, Estero, FL 33928 and upon arriving there I learned that they were at capacity for donations and was instructed to bring all donations to The Ocean Church 22100 S Tamiami Trail, Estero, FL 33928.

After dealing with those awesome people I 3 more welfare checks and they were successfully completed all was well and it was time to call it a day till next time.
